WE MADE IT!
At approximately 2:26pm on 6.08.19, our Relay came to an end when we reached our final destination
The Roanoke River LightHouse, Edenton, NC
Thanks to all our supporters, sponsors and new friends along the way! Can’t wait to do this again next year!
What This Is
On June 6th, 12 members of the Trottin’ Oxen Run club will embark on a running adventure like no other.
Starting at 7:00 am on Thursday, June 6th, we will attempt a relay from the White House in Washington, D.C. to the Roanoke River Lighthouse in Edenton, NC – a distance of 343 miles.
What makes this unique is The White House To LightHouse Relay was created by runners looking to push the boundaries of what an athletic event can be. Countless hours have gone into developing our idea, planning the route, mitigating risks and obtaining sponsors.
Our plan is to document the entire experience on social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) so that everyone can follow along. Please follow us on our adventure. If nothing else, keeping 12 people crammed into a tight space for over 72 hours will make for some amusing YouTube videos.
How We're Planning To Get There
Hours of planning have gone into selecting our route. Most of the journey will follow the East Coast Greenway, a 3,000-mile bike and walking route linking Maine to Florida. Fortunately, we will only be covering 343 miles of it from Washington D.C to Edenton, NC. But planning can only do so much. We will encounter situations that we will have to solve on the fly.
Luckily we are prepared!
We will have a lead RV with a follow vehicle supporting the runner(s), always on the move. We’re using the latest GPS tech to track our movements and post to this website for real-time location updates. If you’re anywhere on the route and want to run with us – you are more than welcome! Everyone knows runners hate running alone!
